Help Kids Perform in their New Uniform
The Assistance League of Long Beach is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to create a community of volunteers to identify and deliver philanthropic services. They currently have 10 programs targeting the children and adults in need in the community. They help around 24,000 individuals each year!
|Operation School Bell - Assistance League of Long Beach|
Operation School Bell program provides 10,000 local children each year with school uniforms. The school district made uniforms mandatory in 1994 in an effort to unify students and alleviate problems associated with gangs and poverty, but those without means to purchase them would not attend school without the help from Assistance League.
Funds are raised year-round to give all the kids an opportunity to attend school even if their family can’t afford the uniform. The uniforms – which come with underwear, socks, shoes and a backpack – cost $60 and we are campaigning to raise funds to help 10 children.
